ICT Coordination 2.0: The central figure of educational change

The post title is given by reading this interesting Redctic blog, or what is the ICT Coordination same 2.0: functions, skills and social networks among its contributors is as reputable specialists like Juan José de Haro, Salvador Llopis, Manuel Jesus Rubio, a group of ICT coordinators and Antonia Cascales. The blog seems to have been designed for a course to impart ICT Coordinators. These are the modules of the course, certainly of great interest.




But what I has attracted attention was the entry titled Digital Identity and Social Networks. In it he examines the role of social networks in education and proposes a series of tasks that schools should do in this matter. This is the full text:

" The task of Schools

is an unavoidable task of schools to teach students to manage their privacy and professional over the Internet as it has become part of what people should know how to manage, not only in his adult life, but from the very first time entering the Web

These points suggest that schools should have their own social networks. Both to act as practical training ground for living together as support for classroom teaching. The confluence of these two aspects prepares children and young people to experience the Internet as a workplace and opportunities and not just entertainment.
To achieve these goals is important to train teachers, to be aware of the risks on the Internet, but especially the benefits far outweigh the negatives. Otherwise it falls into a demonization and undervaluation of the Internet and social networks that can gravely harm the future of young people. Internet and especially social networks as a source of learning and collaboration, has created an ecosystem that simply did not exist ten years ago and which will continue to grow in importance as society advances.
Equally important is the training of parents that just do not abandon their children on the street to play when they are young, they can not leave them alone on the internet, especially when it comes to young children.

A conclusion should stress the need for the use of social networks by students from the controlled environment of the school, where they can guide and provide the educational value and unquestionably useful for future professional life of students. This will be achieved through its own network of educational center as well as adequate training for teachers and parents. "


In my humble opinion, I think the figure of ICT coordinator in schools is central to the methodological change and integration of ICT tools in the classroom. But it should be a much more pedagogical than technical. Must meet, stimulate and train teachers rather than tinkering with the hardware, so it must be specialized services. From what I see and perceive, in schools where there is contained and performs its function, the center's involvement in ICT projects is complete and the tagline that we use constantly to "integrate ICT into the curriculum" does not have much sense because ICTs are part of the curriculum. No are special, are to form part of school life, teachers and students.
